There have been 27 fire fighter fatalities in 2023 as of May 3 in the US
In 2019, we had the most amount of death by fire in the US since before 2011
In 2020, fire deaths were up 23.7% since 2011
How It Works
In the case of a building fire, firefighters need to evacuate the building before extinguishing the fire. If they do not do this, the people inside would have a significantly lower chance of survival.
